'CIRCULARITY'
2022
Digital artworks that destroy & re-create themselves annually
A series of 12 self-renewing artworks, each tied to a month of the year.
Every piece exists only during its month, minted on the first day, burned on the last, and reappearing annually in the collector’s wallet.
Tradable only within that window, CIRCULARITY challenges the culture of rapid speculation and introduces the concept of “Slow NFTs”.
The series reflects on digital ownership, long-term autonomy and how smart contracts enable self-sustaining immutable programs that can operate for centuries without creator maintenance or intervention.
The Use of AI
Each artwork explores how AI envisions the months of the year. Using Stable Diffusion with each month as a prompt, hundreds of images were generated, curated, and digitally transformed by hand. This highlights the role of human perspective in an age of infinite AI creation, expressed through a time-based on-chain performance.

Exploring concepts such as:
-
Temporality in our physical & digital world
-
Cyclical nature of life: Creation/Destruction, Seasons, Life/Death/Re-birth, Past/Present/Future…
-
Using smart contracts as a medium of immutability to establish long-lasting autonomous artworks
-
Redefining ownership standards through the rhythm of time, by introducing the concept of ‘Slow NFTs’.
-
Highlighting the role of human perspective in an age of infinite AI outputs.
-
Transforming artworks into a continuous, time-based public performance orchestrated by the blockchain
By triggering the burn transaction in the final 24 hours of each month, the public acts as the catalyst for the artwork's destruction and rebirth. An integrated ETH bounty ensures this cycle remains perpetual, incentivizing autonomous agents to maintain the rhythm of renewal.
This process simultaneously mints a new piece into the sub-series ‘Circularity Burn Ceremony’ (CBC).
A 24sec video of that month’s art fading for 12sec and re-emerging for 12sec ↻ A ritual celebrating passing time, a "restoration ceremony" marking a new beginning…
'CIRCULARITY' consists of 2 connected collections:
1. Main Collection: 12 Primary Artworks ◯︎
2. ‘Burn Ceremony’ (CBC): An uncapped collection that grows with every monthly burn ↻
The contrast of Scarcity and Abundance: Navigating the space between singular scarcity (rare high-art object) and the viral, hyper-distributed nature of digital culture (the meme).

'CIRCULARITY’ embraces the ‘wheel of time’ (Kalachakra).
drawing inspiration from circular symbols:
From Mandalas, the Ouroboros, the Zen Enso circles,
to the Horoscope of Prince Iskandar and Astrolabes…
Reflecting how cultural and cosmic rhythms repeat across history
